Amazing place by Sharon kane from Newark, NJ
Sailing date: Jun 2010

Pros:
Food, dancing waiters, decor was fabulous, nice size room, excellent crew, name tags of crews home country

Cons:
television sets are outdated, incidental costs are ridiculous, adding an extra cost per person per day, and not enuf time to visit the ports.

I was very happy with the decor inside the ship. I also thought the crew were friendly and the security was excellent. I felt really safe because of the security set up.

Good cruise! by A Traveler from OKC, OK
Sailing date: May 2010

Pros:
Great dining room experiences!! Great balcony rooms!!

Cons:
Party atmosphere - some things a little too crude and over the top

This was our first cruise experience and overall it was great! We loved the ship and all of the space it had - from the decks outside to the room with a balcony. The staff on the ship was amazing and so eager to help in any way. Dinner in the dining room was one of the highlights of each day. The food was fantastic and the service was incredible!! The only thing we didn't like was that it seemed to be a party ship - a lot of really young people (people that looked way underage even) drinking and partying at all hours of the day. I'm all for having fun but some of it just seemed over the top. Even the cruise director was constantly making jokes about drinking and being drunk as well as a lot of sexual jokes.

Beautiful ship! Nice decks with plenty of room, beautiful balcony rooms that were more spacious than I expected, and a beautiful interior that was fun to walk around and look at. :)

The dining room had superb food. I wasn't disappointed with any of it. The buffet areas had good food but the quality didn't seem to be as high as the dining room. Still great food though!

Great Cruise by Michelle W from Philadelphia
Sailing date: May 2010

Pros:
everything

Cons:
nothing

This was our first cruise and we have absolutely no regrets. We had a balcony room which was great. The room stewards did a fabulous job....they cleaned the rooms 2x/day and we always returned to a spotless cabin. The ship overall was kept very tidy. The crew were constantly cleaning/picking up after guests. The staff were fabulous. Everyone always went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. They were friendly, courteous and always had a smile on their face. The food was good. It wasn't anything to write home about, it was certainly better than what I would make. The shows were also enjoyable. There were 2 comedians....one was funnier than the other, but we had a good time at both. The variety shows and game type shows were also a lot of fun. It's true that the chairs by the pool fill up fast, but go to any resort or beach on land and you experience the same thing. We didn't get to the pool until 10:30 one morning, and while all the chairs were taken, we found some empty deck space and a stack of extra chairs and set up our own little spot. The other guests on the cruise ship were mostly couples.....a lot of honeymooners, and a lot of couples in their 30's and 40's. Some families with small kids, but not many. People were drinking throughout the day on the ship, but we never heard any rowdy drunks at night. I think going in May was an advantage (wasn't spring break and kids are still in school.) I would really have to look hard to find something to criticize.

Wonder First Time Cruise by Lisa K from Leesburg, GA
Sailing date: Apr 2010

Pros:
Dinner, Casino, and the room

Cons:
not easy to get around

As a first time cruiser, I really had a great time. The staff was helpful and patient. The only problem I had was navigating around the ship. The elevators need to be marked with a number or something so you know which one to get onto to go to different areas of the ship. The maps by the elevators were very hard to read because it was not very well lit. I was disappointed in the pool size, I thought that they would be a little bigger. Also, they need to offer more than one debarkation information session. After a long day of sightseeing and shopping, 5 p.m. is just too early for those with a 6 p.m. dinner time.

Our First Cruise by A Traveler from Chicago
Sailing date: Mar 2010

Pros:
How many activites there were

Cons:
How crowded the pools and deck were

The staff kept it well cleaned. It was a little hard to figure your way around it. And it was very dark everywhere. However, we would cruise on this ship again.

Great Time on Carnival Cruise by Cathy D. from Ohio
Sailing date: Feb 2010

Pros:
The food was amazing!

Cons:
The entertainment could have been better.

The ship had a few areas that were not updated, but we felt it added character. We felt that the ship met all our expectations. Carnival offers a great value in price and we definately could not get the same accomodations on land for the price. The staff was exceptional. Everything that we particiated in was well done and very classy. The dining staff was amazing and the food was all delicious. The overall experience from Carnival was excellent. We had one day that was rough at sea, but that was no fault of Carnival rather nature. We found plenty of other things to do that day and the staff was very acoomodating and helpful. A cruise is definately a lot of entertainment and food for the money. The hot tubs were luke warm instead of boiling hot which made them very enjoyable.

Carnival Destiny by A Traveler from Iowa
Sailing date: Feb 2010

Pros:
Cleanliness; staff; ports

Just returned from cruise on Carnival Destiny. I was very happy with how clean the ship was. Never saw any issues that needed attention. We were disappointed to miss Half Moon Cay, but it was due to weather conditions so it was out of their control. It would have been nice to have an alternate port added. According to the captain none were available. Not sure that seems reasonable, but what can you do. Thankfully it only had one day at see so at least we still had 2 ports. We did have an issue with them canceling our excursion in Nassau which was the least expensive beach day. We ended up just taking a cab (checking with the ship people to find a safe one since we've heard it can be a dangerous port) which cost us much less anyway. This ship seemed to be the least organized of any Carnival cruise we've taken before. Often the Carnival Capers mentioned the wrong ports. Lots of small things. No deal breakers so I would still recommend. Loved Grand Turk, but it would have been nice to know that day that we would be missing Half Moon Cay then would have spent more beach time.

It was one of those ships where you can't go all the way across most floors so we spent a lot of time going up and down and over to get places. Once we figured out just go to one of the cabin floors and go to mid ship, front or back then go up we got around fine.

Sold us short by Robert G from Ohio
Sailing date: Feb 2010

Pros:
food and employees - Half Moon Cay

Cons:
hot tubs luke warm-poor swimming pools(disappointing) some what crowded ship -did not properly compensate us for cutting the distance of the cruise in half-this would clearly rate this cruise as BELOW AVERAGE-please pass this on to Carnival as we are considering booking the next cruise with Royal Ca

Carnival did not compensate us sufficently for cutting the cruise distance in half due to engine problems-did not travel south far enough because of this, which prevented us to enjoy warmer weather.( cut out Turks )This could be a good cruise, half moon cay is wonderful, but the swiming pools on the ship are small and the water in the hot tubs was not hot. This was dissapointing, especially in cool weather. The food was great and the employees went out of their way to be great also-the ship was staffed above what may be needed which is a good thing.

Destiny ship has no Destination! by Sarah S. from San Diego, CA
Sailing date: Jan 2010

Pros:
Nice staff, affordable cruise,

Cons:
We did not get off the boat enough.

After returning from the cruise I have heard a lot of negative feed back about Carnival, and especially this ship. Our destinations and excursions were important to us. We can't get back the time we spent, we simply can't reschedule Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Our time and money is what we lost on this trip. We spent money flying to Miami, our hotel stay in Miami, transport to the cruise terminal, and the cost of the cruise. It simply wouldn't be worth the time and money and planning to go on this ship again. The compensation of $75 on board credit didn't do justice. It felt like a rip off, we left late from the start, and only had from 11pm onward to the next morning in Nassau Bahamas, not the 2 days we could have spent in Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios. Carnival needs to dry dock this boat and take care of the maintainence issues that it has, rather than sending it out to sea full of people who end up being held hostage on the ship. 5 night cruise, only off the ship for a few hours.

Great Cruise Dissapointing Destinations by Liz D from washington, dc
Sailing date: Jan 2010

Pros:
Service of the Cruise was outstanding, the staff was always pleasant and helpful. Extremely accomodating in all aspects while on the ship.

Cons:
Cruise Ship did not go to Scheduled Destinations..............very upsetting

I am a frequent cruiser of the Caribbean Islands. I found the ship itself to be slightly dingy and the facilities outdated. After we had left the port 4 hours after the scheduled embarkation time, we could tell something was going wrong from the start of the trip. Our inital dinner was okay food with a view of the Miami traffic. The captain came over the loud speaker on the first day at sea and informed us that due to technical difficulties with the engines our speed has been delayed and they were not going to make any decisions until later in the day. As we awoke on Monday morning we were suprised to see another "Day at Sea" on our itinerary. Dissapointed that we were not in Jamacia, we went to the deck to take our seats in the sun. The captain came over the loud speaker again and made the announcement that our trip would be detoured from Ochos Rios Jamacia and Grand Cayman to Nassau. Having previous been to Nassau our hopes and excursions for the trip had diminished. We were told that we would be refunded 75 on board credit for the inconvenience. This was not compensation enough. The ship docking fees for Jamacia has essentially been refunded for us. After doing some research upon my return home we went 50 miles off the coast of Miami. A typcial weekend cruise for most people. The tickets for a Carnival cruise to Nassau are $220 base. Not $350, that we paid for the same trip from Miami to Nassau. The staff was great and I actually enjoyed the entertainment, but this trip was not the TRIP I signed up for.
