A GREAT FIRST CRUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! by
Richard E. Abbott III from Ilion, New York Sailing date: May 2010Pros: Loved the Extended Balcony suite! GREAT FOOD! Lots of activities to do. Met lots of friends and became friends with the couple next to us and they ended up being our dinner guests by luck! The Ports were wonderful. NEVER GOT BORED! Everyones Kids were hidden and out of the way! Clean cabbins. Cons: Not much time in the ports. VERY Small Pools & Hot Tubs! Overlaped to many activities so you couldn't do and see everything you wanted to. ONLY Free drinks were Ice Tea, Lemonade, Water & Milk. Had to pay for Juice & Soda Pop! We got into ports at 7am so you couldn't stay up late and still get sleep Great cruise and very fun. Hard to get many of the workers to understand you since they spoke VERY little english. Pools & hot tubs were way to small for the amount of people but there was enough to keep you busy. They need to change the times you get into port and maybe give you a couple more hours. We have already booked our next cruise... Ship QualityVery nice and enough room to keep everyone spaced out. Dining/FoodGreat variety and lots of new items to try like SNAILS!!! Stateroom QualityGreat Extended Balcony room. Could be bigger but it served it's purpose!!! lol... Ship Staff QualityTo many people didn't speak engkish well enough to help you and had to go get ANOTHER worker who could understand english. Entertainment & ActivitiesIt was fun but the Night Show was a little OLD fashioned. The comics were great and should have been on more than the dancers. Children's ProgramsWe never had to deal with the children. The only time we had to see any kids was during dinner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Belize City, BelizeDO NOT DO THE CAVE TUBBING. It was very boring and no fun at all.. The bus ride each way was the best part...
Don't Miss: The people swamp you AS SOON as you leave the gates. be very carefull. they are very aggressive!!!!!! Cozumel, MexicoWe spend the whole day on a Buggy & Snorkle package. It was the BEST Highly recomended. Couple hours of wet sandy fun dune buggying then lunch & some site seeing. Then about 45 minutes of snorkling and back to the town. VERY Fast buggies and lots of fun... Not for old people or small kids...
George Town, Grand CaymanGreat Snorkling. When you hit the shore go to your right with the ocean on your right and you will come up to a snorkling area. You will see yellow vests out in the water. Ask for the 2 for 1 and pay only $35 for the both of you instead of each. The cruise will charge you 4100 for the same exskercion. aLSO VISIT tortoga AND GET THE rUM CAKES.
Don't Miss: snorkling JUST DOWN THE STREET. tHEY BAIT IN THE FISH... Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasGreat shopping. Everything you can buy at the other places can be bought here for low prices or on the ship for about 10% more... And I mean almost everything... Watch out for the TAXIES.. They will rip you off. Walk past them and up a hill then out a gate where you will find fair prices Taxies and get group deals...
Don't Miss: Take the sky chairs to the beach and snorkle. Great views. 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  Fun in the Sun by
Ken S from Fl Sailing date: Jun 2010Pros: Legend is an comfortable ship and the ports were inviting. Cons: The breakfast buffet is crowded and disorganized. Carnival Legend is an excellent ship with an well managed crew. The trip was to safe and exciting ports. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodTrufles Dining room provided excellent service and food. Entrees were both adventurous and Carnival standards and the waiters were excellent. Stateroom QualityOur deck 8 balcony suite was cool, clean, and comfortable. Ship Staff QualityThe staff was attentive and friendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesEvening shows were well produced and fun. The comedians were funny. The ship's singers and dancers were excellent.
Children's ProgramsThe program for the 15-17 and 18-20 group needs improvement. The teen disco was isolated and unwelcoming...especially to girls who did not like the isolated location. The Karoke bar provided the best entertainment for teens. There needs to be big screen movies somewhere!!

Belize City, BelizeThe bus trip to the pyramids was amazing. The guides gave a running account of the coutryside during the drive and their knowledge of the site was competant and interesting.
Don't Miss: The pyramids are a dont miss! Cozumel, MexicoThe horseback tour of Mayan ruins was fun and well organized.
George Town, Grand Caymanthe stay was too short...but the snorkeling over the reef and wreck was fun.
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasThe Catamaran snorkeling tour on the reef was excellent. Lunch was provided and good.
Don't Miss: snorkeling or diving in Roatan is the best! 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Enjoyable Cruise by
Janet B from Wesley Chapel, FL Sailing date: May 2010Pros: Staff was great! Cons: Smoke in casino This was our 25th wedding anniversary cruise. I did much research in determining our cruise and we were not disappointed. The staff was incredible in all areas. Very helpful and always polite. We chose this cruise for the number of ports we visited (4) in a short period of time as we didn't want to be sailing all the time. Ship QualityOverall, ship was clean but in some areas could use a touch up of paint. In some areas, the glass wasn't as clean.....had water spots that never seemed to be taken care of but it was not a big deal. Dining/FoodMy husband and I aren't really fussy in this area. We really enjoyed the buffets but they can be crowded at times. We never went away hungry! The dinners in the evening were good but not outstanding. Our waiter was great and very attentive. We had the early dinner and at times, we felt rushed out because of the next dinner group.....didn't have much time to sit and chat after eating. Stateroom QualityWe had a Jr Suite and it was wonderful. It was always clean, no matter when we left, when we came back, it was cleaned again. These guys are incredible! Ship Staff QualityWe loved the staff. Never did we feel like we were bothering them. Considering they are on the ship for months at a time, working day after day, they were always pleasant, helpful, and polite. Entertainment & ActivitiesThere is much to do, depending on your likes and dislikes. We went to every show and they were great, especially the comedians. We like the fact that it was clean fun. A lot of talent on these ships.

Belize City, BelizeWent cave tubing. Be prepared before you go as they don't let you know everything. It's a rough, long, hot walk to the cave on stony ground. Bring money for water shoes (if you don't have any -- don't wear flip flops as it's really rough terrain), food, and pictures. We enjoyed the cave tubing but it can be exhausting if you aren't up for it.
Cozumel, MexicoTook the Ruins of Tulum tour. Our guide was so passionate about the ruins and his country. The beach there is beautiful too.
George Town, Grand CaymanWe took the tour of the city, turtle farm and town of hell. It was just ok. The town of hell is really tacky and nothing special.
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasWe loved the Maya Key Private Island. Was very clean and relaxing. Wished we could have stayed longer.

  would do it again by
jerri s from fl Sailing date: May 2010Pros: the servive all the staff gives to you Cons: food was cold in the dining room the first three days and then it got a little warmer. The ship was clean, always something to do. We took our 4 year old grandson and the camp carnival staff were great with him. A phone was given to us in case they needed to get in touch with us. We traveled with anther couple and my friend and I were feeling bad after we ate something. It happened to me again the last night of the cruise, at 5 am the day we were to get off the ship I was in the bathromm sick until 8am when we had to get out of the room. It was something I ate! Good thing it happened on the lasr day and not the first. Overall we had a really good time. I wouldnt go to Belize again, it was a big waste of time should have stayed on the ship. The other places we stopped at were all fun with neat things to do. Ship Qualityeasy to get around, even the 4 year old got used to the ship and took me to the kids pool after just being there one time! Dining/Foodgot sick on the food the last night of the cruise. would rather eat on the lido deck.I wonder what happened to leaving the bread on the table, They would come around once and give you one piece, Stateroom Qualitywe had a balcony and the three of us had enough room for all our stuff. Ship Staff Qualityour bus boy was just great, he would be on the lido deck in the morning and would help us with anything we needed. He found us jello at lunch one day for my grandson Entertainment & ActivitiesI have seen better on other cruises we have been on, seems like Carnival is cutting back a whole lot. Children's Programshad a great time there( my 4 year old grandson) The staff were very good to the kids. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Had a great time by
Don S from Florida Sailing date: May 2010Pros: Relaxing not having to seek out fun. Cons: Belize Ship was well run, clean, and the decor did not bother me like I had heard beforehand. I did find some things that bothered others not a problem sometimes and other times things that others raved about I didn't like. Either I had unique experiences or I have unique desires, or there have been changes made by Carnival. Noted in specific comments. Ship QualityI see no advantage to the cruiser in mega-ships. This ship, which large, but not behemoth, seemed a good size. Despite over 2000 passengers, there was ALWAYS places to go where one could have quiet and near solitude. And, rarely did crowds get too overwhelming except perhaps days at sea trying to find a deck chair - but we always found 2 in the sun without much problem. Dining/FoodAfter reading hundreds of reviews before our trip, one thing everyone agreed on was the high quality of the Golden Fleece (additional $30 cost) restaurant. And many people did not care for the food on board at the other areas. We were quite the opposite. I found the food everywhere so varied and high quality (with exceptions of course, but few), that I did not find the Steakhouse worth the extra price of admission. In fact, the lobster I had there was about the worst I've ever had - completely tasteless. Everything else was find, but bottom line is that the general restaurant and even the buffets always had many things that I liked. This was one of our two brightest points of our trip (the other one being the entertainment at the main shows). Stateroom QualityDefinitely a change from the last cruise I had years ago. The stateroom was very large (Riviera Deck window room). It was well appointed with hair dryer, comfortable queen sized bed, nice sofa, large window, bathrobes, shampoo, shower gel, an always full ice bucket, PLENTY of storage and VERY nice sound proofing. The only thing I was upset about was the PRESENCE of nice, large, fluffy beach towels. If I was told they were furnished, I missed it, so had to drag 2 of our own which took half a suitcase! Ship Staff QualityI'm not one who seeks to have relationships with staff and, to their credit, I think the staff will respond according. What I want is good service and friendly attitude. With nearly no exception, this is exactly what I received. The cruise direction must be an improvement from the previous one, because, while being energetic he was not grating whatsoever and not intrusive to the time on board. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe 4 stars here is an average. Of the shows, the dancers and orchestra were awesome. Costumes, choreography and theme was a lot of fun and very professional, entertaining. Of the other entertainment, however, I was disappointed with the exception of the 2 piece calypso/reggae group (Song Machine?). They were a lot of fun to listen to. The other entertainers, didn't. The activities were mostly a bust. Things like trivia, sodoku, chess had so few people turn out that they really didn't happen. Bingo seemed to have a few people, as did things like the art auction, etc. A lot of things I did not attend. Carnival is not to blame for most of it, I suppose, but it seems that there should be a bit more thought put into activities so they would attract more people. One of the activities (golf challenge) failed because no ship's person showed up. This was a rarity however.

Belize City, BelizeI confess that I was somewhat influenced by the pretty much unanimous reviews before I went that this is a bad stop. We had decided to not do any activities and stay on the boat. We did get off and shop a bit. Within the "compound". Ate at a restaurant there (Wet Lizard?), was pretty good and decent local beer.
Don't Miss: Return to the ship. Cozumel, MexicoPretty good shopping at the port area. Ate at Pancho's Back Porch, or something like that. It was VERY good, and reasonably priced.
George Town, Grand CaymanWe did the Stingray City Safari. While, "once was enough", it was a lot of fun and gave us some time to see the island and swim in the water and enjoy the stingrays. Had a good time. Port itself was fine. Had a drink and a snack - but I can't remember the name. Worst part of this was getting back on the boat. There were 4 security checks to get back aboard - that seems a bit much.
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasAs far as ports, I have my biggest complaint here. We spent from 8 to 3 here (but "be back on board by 2:15"). What an absolutely gorgeous place. People around us - and us - did not stop raving. So, why then, such a short time? Why Carnival insists on stopping at Belize and does not increase the time at Roatan is beyond me and everyone with whom I spoke. Carnival has developed a pier and port completely for themselves (I think that is the case, anyway). Brand new with a decent number of stores. Fun shopping. Then just off from there is the private Carnival beach that words cannot describe. Just a lovely island and a lovely port area. My wife went zip-lining at a non-Carnival place - Pirates of the Caribbean (or some such name). She had a blast. However, by the time of her return we did not have much time to get to West End which we have heard such good things about. Also, what amounted to a 5 mile cab ride was $35 each. Seemed over-priced by a long shot.

Fantastic cruise! I want to go again! by
Dana V. from Gillette, WY Sailing date: Apr 2010Pros: The service, the food and many things to do. The ship was gorgeous and the areas I saw were clean and well maintained. We had a balcony stateroom and it had more than enough room for 2 adults and 2 teens. I really liked that the kids had their own places to go on the ship too. Ship QualityThe ship was beautiful and the maps on each floor helped keep me orientated. Dining/FoodThe food was outstanding. After the first day I started taking my camera to dinner because the presentation of the food was beautiful too. We had a wonderful server in the dining room. I was made to feel really special when, after only one dinner, our waitress remembered me and called me by name the next day....and I was on a different part of the ship. Stateroom QualityI was surprised by how much room there really is in the rooms. They were always cleaned quickly and I like the fact that they left fresh towels for everyone twice a day. Ship Staff QualityWhenever addressing the ship staff, I was made to feel like I was the most important person they had to take care of. The bar staff would even remember our drink preferences and have it ready before we even requested a refill. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe went to several of the evening shows and found them to be very entertaining. Sometimes I felt that there were too many things to choose during the day and often times activities that I wanted to do overlapped. Children's ProgramsMy kids had a great time and made new friends with kids their own age. It made the whole cruise more fun for all of us. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Dick G from Baltimore Sailing date: Feb 2010Pros: The entertainment was superb Cons: Needs some paint We have been on over 25 crusises. Decided to take our niece, obviously she wanted Carnival. We had not been on a Carnival ship for a long time. We were pleasantly supprised. The food and entertainment was as good.as the "higher level" lines. The cabin, balcony, was clean and nice size. Wonderful time! by
Gerry M from Detroit, MI Sailing date: Feb 2010Pros: Entertainment in main showroom was consistently excellent - always something going on to enjoy. Cons: lunch and breakfast meals were not great - people consistently trying to Overall we enjoyed the cruise very much and would recommend. The crew was attentive, the rooms were better than expected, the entertainment in the main showroom every night was excellent - stay for the late night commedy - worth the wait! Cruise Director was high energy. Meals were just so-so....nothing to brag about. Ports were ok but the excursions were questionable - snorkeling in Roatan was excellent but in Belize - not worth the time or money. Check in and check out was very efficient and well done. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityWe had a window and it was everything we needed...very few people were actually able to use the balconys due to wind and weather - we're very pleased to have saved the money - rooms were we equipment and size was very comfortable. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities
Children's ProgramsThe staff must have been doing a wonderful job - we were told over 500 young people were on board - and we NEVER had a problem with noise, etc. 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Dan from omaha Sailing date: Jan 2010Pros: The meals were wonderful Cons: The cruise director was awful. Terrible irritable voice, enough to drive everyone crazy. Very nice ship and crew except the cruise director. Worst I've ever ecountered on all the ships I've been on. The entertainment was below par too. Worse entertain ment for main shows I've ever been to. Ship QualityVery Clean. Cabin Steward was wonderful and the service excellent. Dining/FoodGreat meals, great variety. Stateroom Quality

Entertainment & ActivitiesShip's cruise director was terrible. Very irritating. Worst main shows I've ever been to.
The group Lifeline in the Firehouse lounge was the best band I've ever heard on a cruise ship. Wonderful group. 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.
