Great Cruise by
We be cruisers from United States Sailing date: May 2010Pros: Ports of call, Entertainment Cons: long lines on the lido deck Very nice. See below for specifics Ship QualityThe ship is nice and well laid out; easy to learn your way around. The bands and musical talent at the various venues were the best we had ever had. The large screen was an excellent addition to the lido deck pool; great place at night to grab a lounge chair, watch a movie and relax. I thought the ship was clean, and good attention given to keeping it that way. Interior cabin was well laid out, and decent room for a family of four that had two teens. Dining/FoodThe food was good; if you are expecting gourmet quality meals 3 times a day you will be disappointed, but I think for the price the quality is excellent. The selections were plentiful, and it was delicious. The servers were honest about recommendations in what was good and not good. Only disappointment was the Grand Mariner Souffle. Stateroom QualitySee above cabin info Ship Staff QualityCarnvial must instill the importance of Customer Service to every level of staff. They always greet you in the halls, in starwells, etc. and are always helpful Entertainment & ActivitiesAs I said before, this is the best musical entertainment on any ship I have had. The bands and singers were wonderful, and made the trip very enjoyable. Children's ProgramsI had two teens, and although there were activities, it seems most of the teens do not participate in the programs
Collapse List of Ports
Grand Turk IslandSmall island, once you get passed the Port shops, it is a very non-touristy place. I found that refreshing. Biggest disappointment was the snorkeling--took the Carnival-recommended Catermeran sail and Snorkel to a "wall" with a 7,000 ft drop off. Saw some fish, very little coral. Most disappointing
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)Great Beach day. Beautiful waters. Cons: long lines to get back on the ship.
Don't Miss: Beach San Juan, Puerto RicoDon't Miss: San Cristobal Fort Charlotte Amalie, St. ThomasBeautiful island. Took a taxi and went sightseeing. great shopping

  ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! by
Nicole M. from Union, NJ Sailing date: Apr 2010Pros: The staff on board was so friendly and really made the cruise fun. The array of activties for the whole family left no time to complain about boredom. Cons: Wish we had more time in the ports. The last (and only one before this trip) cruise we took we thought was great. Yet Carnival surpassed all our expectations. Our room was perfect, the activities on board were amazing!!!! The variety of food satisfied our every appetite. I am already thinking of planning our next cruise. Ship QualityThe ship was large enough that we never felt like the boat was too crowded. The staff was always cleaning the ship, yet it was never intrusive. Loved the decor. Dining/FoodWONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! So many options, so much food. There was something for everyone to enjoy. We even tried sushi for the first time. Stateroom QualityOur room was beautiful and the housekeeping staff were top notch. Our room was on the spa deck (deck 11) so we had wonderful views from our floor to ceiling window. The room was the perfect size for the four of us. Ship Staff QualityAt every corner there was a crew member ready and WILLING to help. Our cruise director was hilarious. At any given moment he made annoucements that had everyone on board laughing hysterically. Entertainment & ActivitiesI can't say enough about the variety of activities. At times there were multiple things going on that we wanted to do. Never a dull moment. Children's ProgramsMy kids raved about the activities available for them. Although we didn't utilitize it, they even had shore excursions just for teens! 3 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  so so cruise by
Marla G. from Nashville, TN Sailing date: Apr 2010Pros: the family we had dinner with each night Cons: the lack of quality entertainment and bland unflavorful food We were quite disappointed in the level of service generally provided by the staff on this ship. The exceptions were our servers in the evening, although the food was bland and tasteless. While I understand the difficulty in pleasing each palate, I expect a little salt and spice when it is called for. The chocolate buffet was beautiful to look at, but each item out of dozens seemed to taste the same. Grand Marnier souffle????? Where was the orange flavor? This seemed to hold true for everything on board, excepting the chevre pizza.
The staff ( generally speaking) was timid and really didn't enforce any of the courtesy rules, such as "reserving" deck chairs with towels after 30 minutes. While the ports were enjoyable, the ship in general was not. Overall, I do not expect to return to Carnival Cruise Lines. The ship was beautiful, but that was where "the Fun" stopped. Ship Quality

Great cruise on Carnival Liberty by
Vanessa B. from Connecticut Sailing date: Mar 2010Pros: Crew and Cruise director Cons: shore excursions Great ship - Similar to the Carnival Victory in layout, so we found it fairly simple to find everything. The shows were superb, the crew was very friendly, the ports of call were fun, and the fellow passengers were a lot of fun. Ship QualityExtremely clean, interesting decor. Dining/FoodFood was great, lots of options, good dining room service. Stateroom QualityWe had an extended balcony cabin on the 8th deck, the Verandah deck. Overall, very roomy, lots of storage space, the balcony was good, except for the exposure of second hand smoke from our neighbors. Ship Staff QualityGreat friendly people. Our barstaff from dinner made an effort to find us at other venues and get the drinks we liked. Entertainment & ActivitiesTerrific shows and entertainment. The comedian Phat Kat was a little raunchy but everyone else was great. Asad the hypnotist was great! 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Our First Cruise by
Joe DePalma from Toronto Sailing date: Feb 2010Pros: Port of Call - St Thomas, USVI Cons: Ship motion from active waters The ship was great, as was the crew. The service was incredible. Tip money is paid at the end which is a wonderful concept. Bands and entertainment in every major part of the ship. The music was superb. Program Director Butch is an amazing guy. I did not meet him personally but he makes the whole cruise sooo much better. I would book any cruise just knowing Butch will be at the helm. Ship QualityThe ship is great. This was my first cruise, so I have nothing to compare to, but I loved that ship. Spectacular. Dining/FoodThe food was awesome. I did not overeat, but that was very difficult to control because the food was so good. The quality is there, the variety, the ambience. Stateroom QualityIt was perfect. Small but not tight. I don't know how some massively overweight people manage in the bathroom, but I think it was perfect for us. Ship Staff QualityLet me explain the lower rating. I was given an extremely difficult time when I had souvenir knives taken from me. I didn't mind handing them in, but the suggestion that they would be destroyed pissed me off. I bought these souvenirs. These are not weapons. I understand security in this age but use common sense and don't threaten to destroy my personal property and make me wait 3 days without a word of information. The items were returned in the end but only because of my relentless follow up calls. Improve on this aspect please. This alone will ensure I will not return to Carnival. Entertainment & ActivitiesGood shows, passenger interaction, some really talented musicians. They take care of all ages, and all tastes, too. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  "Young and Fun" by
Jerry H from Sunny Orlando, FL Sailing date: Jan 2010Pros: Reasonable, and the food was great compared to other lines we went on for less money. The entertainment was the best we have seen, and on sea days this is a big plus. The cruise director was a hoot, no wonder the Liberty is voted # 1 of the fleets 22 ships. Great cruise. Cons: Needs a weather channel, and new TV, interactive update, a face lift on some of the interior, but the cruise was so great you forget all about it. Great service, great food, although buffet sellection could have been a little bit wider, but what they did offer was great. Always food!!!! Resturant Dinner menu was wonderful. Butch the cruise director, was the best. He made everyone laugh. Their theatre was the best lighting and sound I have seen on a ship, we made buddies with the theatre techs, Matt, Matt, and Aron, what a great job they did. Can't have better entertainment than the Liberty. Only complaint was the TV's need an update, and you could not get weather on any channel on the ship, there should always be weather conditions on the home channel. All electronics on the ship need to be upgraded, even the big screen on the outside. More movies in cabin also, other lines offer 2 new movies every day. For the money this is the best cruise we have been on. The entertainment on the ship, again Butch Bagovitch is the man, makes you forget about any issue you may have, u go Butch. Ship QualityPublic areas are great Electronics need an update. Dining/FoodGreat food, offered all of the things you would expect at dinner, fabrics need an update. Stateroom QualityWe had a great room and our cabin crew was awsome, TV and TV programming needs upgraded though. Butch's morning show was real good. Ship Staff Quality

  A excellent cruise by
Evelyn M from IVA, SC Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: The shows were great Cons: Smokers needed to have a designated floor level and outdoors around the decks, mu husband has COPD and we couldn't escape the smell of smoke around our cabin level We were on the Carnival Liberty, from start to finish everything was organized. There were helpful people waiting for us at the airport and once arriving at the ship we were treated like "ROYALITY." This was my husband first cruise and he asked me how does our cabin steward know us by name. Needless to say that personal touch scored big with my husband he gave our cabin steward a extra little something something in his envelope.... Ship Quality
Dining/FoodOur waiter staff was outstanding, they made sure we were happy with our food and if not they would do whatever it took to please us. Every speciality was explained to us. We also gave them a little extra something something in their envelopes Stateroom Quality

Carnival Liberty was a great ship! by
Marilyn S from Jackson, MI Sailing date: Sep 2009I felt that the Liberty was a great ship. Everything was bright and colorful. It had lots of lights and glitter. Our stateroom was very spacious and well maintained. We spent alot of time out looking around. It has lots to offer. There was a wide variety for dining and also for pleasure. We enjoyed the dining area for evenings as well as our servers. The food choices were great. Lots of chairs around the pools and on deck. Couldn't ask for more. Ship Quality
